Why Can Some People Turn Any Conversation Into A Conversation About Themselves?
My roommate is the queen of turning any subject into something about herself. And I mean anything. Why does she do that? It is so annoying.

Certain people have more of a ‘It’s all about me’ personality. Some grow out of this as they get older, while others simply live like this fairly much their whole life. However some people are so into themselves that they don’t even realize the full extent of their personality defects, or how it causes others around them to want to puke. I advise you to make her aware of this, explain to her in a way that is not going to offend her or hurt her feelings that her habit of taking a simple conversation and making it all about her, is rather tacky. It’s no different then if you were at work or school and your walking around with snot hanging off your nose, while the people who are merely acquaintances most likely won’t step up to the plate and inform you that you have something rather gross hanging off your nose, but a real friend will. If you don’t make her aware of her egotistic attitude, how will she ever know? Be blunt, while adding a bit of humor to it, this will make her feel less insulted and who knows she may thank you later for this humble but needed observation about her personality?

Because the conversation isn’t interesting unless it’s about her.
I have a friend who does this also. She does not pay any attention to what I say unless we are speaking about her, just don’t start to point out her negative traits, she reallllly won’t like that

People like to talk about themselves. It’s the one topic that they’re the most familiar with.
