I have two roommates and both are international students. The problem is, I can’t get along with one of the guys. This guy is I think a nice guy, but he often doesn’t understand my English. So I really have difficulty communicating with him. I mean I can talk to him but I have to speak so slowly to make sense for him. Well..must speak English slowly is maybe ok. The main problem is, he starts arguing with me when he didn’t understand what I said. And finally he tries to make me look stupid. Since both of my roommates get along with each other, I can’t get along with the other guy either. So I’m always alone in our house. I just stay in my room and do some homework. That’s it. I can’t even watch TV with them. In fact, my school life is pretty much perfect. There’re lots of friends at school who I can get along with and hang out with. But when I get home, it’s just terrible. I’m not sure they are doing this, but I feel like they are speaking evil of me all the time in the living room.

I live about 40 minutes away from my girlfriend. For every five times we see each other, four of those times it’s me driving to her place. We are both grad students, but I require more time in my hometown for school/work than she requires in her hometown. When I goto her house, her roommate/best friend is over all of the time including weekends at night because she basically has no life. When my girlfriend comes to see me, her roommate will mope and make subtle suggestions that she doesn’t appreciate being left alone by herself. My girlfriend complains about this saying that her roommate needs to grow up and that she is not her keeper, however when they are around each other, my girlfriend continues the same process by coddling her ego and giving priority to her needs. It’s not that I dislike her roommate, it’s the fact that I barely have time as it is to see my girlfriend and I would like more than just one day per week of alone time with her. I don’t think that is domineering at all. Having her roommate constantly around, hanging around us until 1am because she refuses to leave the house or even try to have other friends is wearing thin on me and overall just seems inconsiderate. I have expressed several times that I am tired of being the one who has to travel all the time, just so I can hang out with her and her buddy, but nothing has changed. Am I being the selfish jerk here? Or do I have a valid complaint? Sorry so long…

I really dont want this to come across as racist, but my Chinese roommate is annoying the crap out of me lately. He talks soooo loud in Chinese, and will only talk in Chinese even in a group with non-Chinese speakers (this bugs me the most). He constantly smacks his lips and belches while he eats. He carries on loud Chinese conversations while I’m trying to watch tv. He leaves our apartment a complete mess. He doesn’t have a drivers license or insurance yet drives a car around and asks me for advice when he hits someone. He basically has no interest in assimilating into American culture as all of his friends are other Chinese immigrants. I’ve lived in Asia previously and was aware of a lot of these common habits before I moved in with him, but he’s really starting to bug the **** out of me. What do I do?

I always used to just leave my bedroom door open so my cats can go in and out but now have a loud, annoying roommate so I need to keep my door shut. Anytime I shut it, my cats sit outside the door and claw the carpet to let me know they want in. When they are in, they will do the same to get out. How do I stop this?

any tips? this girl is super annoying… she says the word UBER alot. she never stops talking.. and i mean never.. me and my roommate will be upstairs smoking a “cigar” and she is yelling from downstairs “zack i moved your eggs to the bottom shelf.” she will be talking about her vag ina first thing in the morning. she comes over and rearranges the furniture. she pays no rent here but yet she sleeps here 4 nights a week.. what to do?
she is nice and means well but soooo annoying i want to shoot myself.. there are only 2 roommates here and i have been here only 1 month. we all work together and have known eachother since december.. i don’t want to make things awkward between me and the roommate since we are buddies.
she has literally said at 7:30am.. there is a tick in my vagina
that is way too early in the day for that kind of talk

I am roommates with a couple who always communicate to each other in this annoying baby voice thinking that they are being cute with one another. It annoys the sh*t out of me!!!!! What’s the best way to hint or tell them that they are being annoying and start talking like adults without causing any conflict between me and them.

My roommate and I were getting along just fine at the beginning of the year at the dorm. And then in October, she tells me, a usually soft spoken person, that I talk too loud on the phone. So, for her sake, I apologized and told her I’d talk on the phone somewhere else if she talked outside during the night. After 2nd semester, that completely changed. She even kept me from using VIX VAPERUB in the room, when I had a cold and needed to use it. Last weekend, she had her boyfriend over all weekend long (which is against the campus rules) and I secretly told my RA but didn’t do anything, in fear of what she might do, act or say. She said he’d stay until Sunday afternoon. He stayed until Sunday @ 8:43 pm! I was so mad, especially when they were making out their goodbye right in front of me.
I am so mad still and don’t know what to do. We have 3 weeks of school left. I am scared and was always trying to be a nice person.
Please give me some advice!!!!!!!

Okay so its just past the middle of the semester and my roommates are started to annoy me. Nothing in particular is wrong or anything, they aren’t doing anything wrong…its just that sometimes I come in and everyone is quiet and I get the feeling that someone’s been talking about me…..and alot of the time I talk to my roommate and he smiles and I just get this really annoying smug feeling from him…I know its really stupd and it’s probably all in my head but I was hoping that someone else could maybe justify or explain why I get this feeling. Oh and one of my roommates is internatioal and from France (not the one who always seems smug) and the other is an international student from Germany (i almost always get annoyed by him for absolutely no reason). I’m thinking that its probably just because we’ve spent so much time together that they’re getting on my nerves….but i dunno. Also it kinda annoys me when they say things like “well its America what do you expect?” when they’re referring to like the way people dance, or how people act. When we all met first it was alot of fun and I like them still love having them as roommates (in fact i wish they were going to be my roommates for a longer time)…I just don’t know why they’ve started to annoy me and I feel bad that they are……I’m thinking that I’ll just spend this weekend away from them and sleep at this girls house after a party…does that seem like a good idea?

Headphones, and just ignore her if she talks to you while you’re listening. Or, be logical, and just flat out tell her you have something you need to do. Or study, etc, in a library, or even get a new roomie.

I have the most annoying female roommates on earth. I live in a college apartment I’m in the middle room between both of them. They stay up to midnight or later playing games or watching tv or even listening to music, really loudly. I can’t stand it I can’t even try to sleep until midnight so I’m tired all day. I use ear plugs and there the highest I can get. I’ve also tried using a fan as white nose but its to loud. I have also tried sleeping pills but they make it worse because it makes me even more frustrated that I can’t sleep. Please help I’m desperate for sleep!!!
